Section Title - IDEAS - ER

PRSGC will continue stimulating the initiation of new aerospace-related research and education projects that expand the Island ’s capabilities in aerospace-related sciences at the higher education level by providing seed funds through the Innovative Developments to Enhance AeroSpace Education and Research Program (IDEAS-ER).

Projects are selected based on their potential to lead to funding from the NASA Strategic Enterprises, on their correspondence with NASA Space Grant national priorities, and their alignment with the NASA Strategic Plan. Proposals are peer-reviewed and awarded on a competitive basis. Members of the national consortia and other local and nationally recognized scientists and educators serve as reviewers. Matching funds (in-kind or in cash) are required in a 1:1 proportion to ensure proper institutional commitment and to increase the leverage of NASA funds. The IDEAS-ER program has greatly benefited new faculty in the major public and private university systems. It fosters and nurtures emerging research and education initiatives that show potential to achieve competitive levels in the future. PRSGC typically funds six research proposals each year.
